lyrics
I’ve been in this place before, it’s not a million miles away from home, it’s just a million miles away from home
Not sure where I’m supposed to be, does it help that I can’t see, just what they’re doing to me?
That man won’t give them half a chance; he says forgiveness is key, he shot them down at the first dance
Well I hear that grace and mercy are mine, but all I see is fear and it’s not for the first time.
"Did I survey this cross for long enough?
Or drink enough wine from this cup?"
Did you get what you came here for?
Well you’re entitled to your own opinion, but we can’t all be right, it wouldn’t make sense then
I’m just worried about this permanent emotion. You can’t fabricate the lived for Devotion.
Well I hope you find which way is up,
And I mean that from the bottom of my polystyrene cup.
Did you get what you came here for?
All this time you’re talking in a language of rules
Holding them up because it feels like you should
Seems you can’t wait to get out of that door
Did you get what you came here for?
Discovered this band via their shared label with Thirty Pounds Of Bone. Folkish but not folk - another great in the line of Scottish bands that marry a musical sincerity with pop sensibility - Orange Juice, Cocteau Twins, Vaselines, Belle & Sebastian - must be all that Irn Bru. alan clark

Irish singer-songwriter Oisin Leech's acoustic folk music is characterized by its muted beauty and intimate, solitary quality. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 16, 2024
I hold St. Thomas as one of the most important and most underated albums of the last decade. Such an intimate yet grande album. When I found out that a follow-up was announced, I was beyond ecstatic. And the day came and I listened to 'Potato Flower'. I was speechless! Such a beautiful evolution. 'Potato Flower' hits you with a wall of slow riffs and emotion. Guitar work that makes me recall bands like Pavement, Bedhead, Low and early The National. Fortunately, what has stayed consistent were the powerful and personal lyrics. With the tragic loss of Scott Hutchinson, it warms my heart to know we still Scottish talent such as James Graham and David Moyes. This album is brilliant. And clearly one of the best albums of 2018.
