alan clark I don't know why stripped down lo-fi works so well with a Scottish accent, maybe cos it sounds so genuine - that's allegedly why they often use Scottish voice overs in finance ads.
Anyway this is a peach of an EP that deserves wider exposure - I'm shocked but personally delighted to see copies of the ltd edition EP still available. Favorite track: This Star.

Let’s have it out, O glorious doubt This faith all wrapped in glass And shameless sin, Earth-shattering All broken parts to task Saved for me now January light, confound my sight, Confuse these travelling eyes And safer this, oh calm dismiss, I set my heart on ice Hands to lie, first breath taken Shame to die, we stand up Day to dawn, sunlight breaking Hold on, re this hope for charis matter So we are too young, to be talking in tongues? But your still quiet voice is wreaking havoc with my lungs And we’re too far gone, to be moved by that song But it’s the harder part of feeling while we’re singing along What part of me, so dark unseen? O trail light up and be shown For grander plans, All carved in hands All heart, all body and all soul All stand, first one over Raised hands. We are it Stay for now, silence breaking Show me how, re this hope for charis matter We are too safe to be scared of our graves But the funny thing with fear, it’s always coming in waves We’re never too old, to be bothered by the cold But your majesty percolates through stories retold

Devotion 03:57
I’ve been in this place before, it’s not a million miles away from home, it’s just a million miles away from home Not sure where I’m supposed to be, does it help that I can’t see, just what they’re doing to me? That man won’t give them half a chance; he says forgiveness is key, he shot them down at the first dance Well I hear that grace and mercy are mine, but all I see is fear and it’s not for the first time. "Did I survey this cross for long enough? Or drink enough wine from this cup?" Did you get what you came here for? Well you’re entitled to your own opinion, but we can’t all be right, it wouldn’t make sense then I’m just worried about this permanent emotion. You can’t fabricate the lived for Devotion. Well I hope you find which way is up, And I mean that from the bottom of my polystyrene cup. Did you get what you came here for? All this time you’re talking in a language of rules Holding them up because it feels like you should Seems you can’t wait to get out of that door Did you get what you came here for? Alleluia

This Star 04:02
This star, this star, is all you mean to me This star, this star, is falling down on me This ache I bore, is barely keeping me awake I woke, my soul to sing no more Now I think we need some solid ground We need a little help to get out It’s bound to pour, your hands are cold, you’re freezing, well so am I. You can’t take anything, not where we’re going I’ll breathe for the both us, to great unknown This way we go with careful passenger In play. In tow. In silent slow motion We crash, unfold, in warmer parts than that We say, we've known, our lives unravelling Now I think we need some solid ground We need a little help to get out It’s bound to pour, your hands are cold, you’re freezing, well so am I You can’t take anything, not where we’re going I’ll breathe for the both of us, to great unknown The air’s so thin up there, it’s fading faster We’ll find a stronger star, save yours for after

You Are 04:33
You are loved by greater love than mine You are held in stronger hands And while we try to kiss this thing goodbye Know that love lasts forever Table set, banner raised on high Hope on hold for this time I am torn, your door still in half sight No flag left to fly And I’ll stand beside you in the rain, Hold your hand in the colder days, because I’d want you there And this I know, we'd cope much better in warmer weather We could belove if we go back to when we learned handstands together. You are loved by greater love than mine You are held in stronger hands
